The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has unveiled its revised election time table for Ondo local government election in the state slated for Saturday 22nd August 2020.
During the press briefing and stakeholders parley which took place at the commission’s headquarter Oba-Ile road, Akure, the commission Chairman, Prof.Yomi Dinakin said the coronavirus impacts causes a major delay in conducting the election since early this year.
Prof. Dinakin assured people of the state of the commission’s readiness to organize a standard based election while calling on stakeholders to cooperate with the commission since the exercise is to continue from where it was relaxed before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stakeholders at the parley expressed their areas of concerns and satisfaction with the commission’s guidelines.
According to the commission’s guidelines, “accreditation and voting will start by 8:00am closes 3:00pm to give room for collation.”
“All vehicular movement shall be restricted except those on essential and election duties while market and shops are to remain closed within this period.”
Its expected that security agencies will be on ground to provide adequate security before, during and after the process.
The election will take place at the 18 Local Government Council Areas of Ondo State.
